Recap: Sunlake Seahawks vs. East Lake Eagles

It was a good run, but the Sunlake Seahawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were the victim of a rough 70-45 defeat at the hands of East Lake. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunlake has scored all season.

East Lake found their leader in underclassman Brody Church, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The contest was Church's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Anthony Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Sunlake's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for East Lake, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunlake will take on Pasco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pasco will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 615th, while Sunlake is ranked 268th). East Lake's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Mitchell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday.
