Softball Game Preview: Monticello Mustangs vs. Spotswood Trailblazers

The Monticello Mustangs will take on the Spotswood Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Monticello will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

On Thursday, Monticello needed a bit of extra time to put away Louisa County. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Lions.

Madison Steppe spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Willow Barr was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Delaney Via was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Spotswood was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They came up short against Turner Ashby, falling 9-1. The Trailblazers have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Spotswood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Monticello, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
