The Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders will take on the Bangor Slaters at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Notre Dame-Green Pond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Notre Dame-Green Pond had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Moravian Academy on Thursday. Notre Dame-Green Pond's pitchers stepped up to hand Moravian Academy a 15-0 shutout. The Crusaders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Liam Gilligan looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Connor Albert was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Paul Smith was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Notre Dame-Green Pond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Bangor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Palmerton.
Jacob Labar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Dylan Keith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Balok, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Bangor's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Notre Dame-Green Pond skirted past Bangor 8-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Notre Dame-Green Pond since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
