Basketball Recap: Surrey Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Surrey won the last time they faced Westhope/Newburg, and Morgan Andersen did her part to make sure it happened again. Everything went the Surrey Mustangs' way against the Westhope/Newburg Sioux on Thursday as the Surrey Mustangs made off with a 66-45 victory thanks in part to Andersen, who went 10 of 18 on her way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Will, who posted 12 points along with five boards and four steals. Will is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Despite the defeat, Westhope/Newburg had strong showings from Lydia Bryans, who had eight points and three steals, and Marleigh Henry, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. Laken Lee was another key player, putting up five points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Surrey, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. As for Westhope/Newburg, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Surrey wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-39 victory against Powers Lake/Burke Central on the 4th. As for Westhope/Newburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-32 defeat against Glenburn on the 7th.
