The Crystal River Pirates will face off against the Trenton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crystal River barely beat Williston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Red Devils on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Violet Flynn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kirsten Schaak was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Athena Childs, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Trenton never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against Columbia as they made off with an 8-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The result came thanks to Addison Allaire's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Presley Akins, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makenna Young, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Crystal River's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Trenton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Crystal River has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
