Volleyball Recap: Downingtown East Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Downingtown East was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Plymouth Whitemarsh on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell just short of the Upper Dublin Cardinals by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Downingtown East took Upper Dublin into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking nine-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 15-6.

Molly Drake paced Downingtown East's offense, picking up 12 kills. Drake got some help from Paige Vanemon and her 21 assists. Drake was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Downingtown East's loss ended a nine-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-6-4. As for Upper Dublin, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

As of now, neither Downingtown East nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
