Softball Recap: Midland Comes Up Short

Midland extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-4 in the process. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grand Blanc Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on Thursday.

As for Grand Blanc, their victory was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games.

For Grand Blanc's part, Kayla Blumenschein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Blumenschein has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grand Blanc let Alaina Trotter and Ella Stevenson run wild. Trotter went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI, while Stevenson went 3-for-4 with two RBI. That RBI marked the first that Trotter has brought in this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland will face off against Lapeer East at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grand Blanc, they will square off against Davison at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
