Softball Recap: Bartlett Comes Up Short

Bartlett extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-11. They lost 16-1 to the Rosebud-Lott Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on March 16th.

As for Rosebud-Lott, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

For Rosebud-Lott's part, Kloe Lopez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Lopez posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Rosebud-Lott let Mekenzie Scheler and Brooke Skala run wild. Scheler went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Skala went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Skala a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jazzlynn Whitfield, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Bartlett will venture away from home to face off against Granger at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.08 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rosebud-Lott, they will head out on the road to take on Thorndale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
