Softball Recap: Luxemburg-Casco Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Luxemburg-Casco had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Freedom Irish. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Irish, too.

Jasmine Jandrin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Claire Schleis and Karsyn Walyczyk did most of the damage at the plate: Schleis went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Walyczyk went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. Those three stolen bases gave Schleis a new career-high. Gracie Jandrin also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Luxemburg-Casco lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Luxemburg-Casco's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Freedom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Luxemburg-Casco beat the Irish by a score of 12-6 later that day.
