Baseball Recap: Northeast Gets the Win

Northeast never let their opponents score on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Hollins Royals. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Royals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2025.

Cooper White looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Schmidt, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Northeast's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Evan Halle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Northeast and bumps their season record up to 8-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Hollins, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Northeast and Hollins could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Vikings will square off against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (232 vs. 19). Meanwhile, Hollins (ranked 295th) will meet East Lake (ranked 44th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
