Baseball Recap: Sullivan Drops Season-High Score on Blue Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sullivan). They blew past the Blue Ridge Knights 23-1 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Christian Ogle was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Saul, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Zaden Hussong was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Sullivan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sullivan pushed their record up to 5-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Blue Ridge, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Sullivan will head out to take on Tuscola at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Redskins are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Blue Ridge, they will be playing at home against Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
