Basketball Recap: Chester Triumphs

Chester's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They managed a 51-47 victory over the Carterville Lions.

Chester can attribute much of their success to Aubrey Coleman, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Those 14 points gave Coleman a new career-high. Lillian Diskey was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points and six boards.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maya Toliver, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Rogers, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Chester's record now sits at 9-15. As for Carterville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-17.

Chester wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-44 loss against Wesclin on the 3rd. As for Carterville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-33 defeat against Massac County on the 4th.
