Larkin hasn't had much luck against South Elgin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Royals will be playing at home against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Larkin will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Aurora East on Monday. The Royals were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Tomcats.

Mackenzie Wemken was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wemken was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Larkin got a massive performance out of Ali Herrick, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Herrick has posted since back in April. Julissa Aguinaga was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, South Elgin entered their tilt with West Aurora on Monday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. They came out on top against the Blackhawks by a score of 6-2.
Like Larkin, South Elgin also got a great game from a two-way player: Anna Kiel. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Kiel has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Amber Gnutek was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Sheehan, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
South Elgin's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Larkin, their victory bumped their record up to 12-14.
Larkin suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to South Elgin when the teams last played back in April. Will the Royals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
