Basketball Recap: Ansley/Litchfield Spartans vs. Fullerton Warriors
After flying high against Heartland Lutheran last Friday, Ansley/Litchfield came back down to earth. The Ansley/Litchfield Spartans took a blow against the Fullerton Warriors on Tuesday, falling 65-37. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Ansley/Litchfield lost, don't look at Luke Bailey. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 19 en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 54.1% of Ansley/Litchfield's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Cunningham, who had six points in addition to six assists and five boards.
Kane Wetovick was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds for Fullerton. Wetovick's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Hunter Gochenour was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.
Ansley/Litchfield dropped their record down to 5-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Fullerton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Ansley/Litchfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-39 defeat against Amherst on the 9th. Fullerton has also already played their next game, a 61-41 win against Nebraska Christian on the 9th.
