Basketball Game Preview: Tremont Turks vs. Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals

The Tremont Turks and the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tremont comes in on five and Warrensburg-Latham on 13.

Tremont's tournament run continued when they took on Calvary on Friday. Tremont walked away with a 76-69 win over Calvary. Given the Turks' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Saints are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Warrensburg-Latham against Illinois Valley Central on Friday as the team secured a 69-40 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Tremont's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Warrensburg-Latham, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.

Tremont came up short against Warrensburg-Latham when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 60-49. Can Tremont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
