Recap: Bridges Prep Buccaneers vs. Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hampton County, the Bridges Prep Buccaneers were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They managed a 35-30 victory over Lowcountry Leadership. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 27 to 11 on the offensive boards, as Bridges Prep did.
Bridges Prep found their leader in underclassman Makayla Lapp, who scored 24 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lapp has scored at least 25% of Bridges Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariyah Henry, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds.
Lowcountry Leadership lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keziah Darby, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Dawn West, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Bridges Prep's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lowcountry Leadership, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Bridges Prep will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Memorial Day at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Day will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 502nd in Georgia, while Bridges Prep is ranked 235th in South Carolina). As for Lowcountry Leadership, they will head out on the road to face off against Charleston Collegiate on Friday. Charleston Collegiate is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
