Basketball Recap: Carver Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

If Shaw wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Carver, they should've done a better job of containing Kayden Cooper. The Carver Tigers simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Shaw Raiders 72-40 thanks in part to Cooper, who posted 27 points and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of SyBria English, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 8 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three).

Despite the loss, Shaw still got an impressive performance from Quishyi Walcott, who went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Carver has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Shaw, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Carver will be playing at home against Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shaw, they will venture away from home to face off against Sumter County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
