Shelby County lost to Elmore County last Monday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Shelby County Wildcats skirted past the Elmore County Panthers 9-8.

Hunter Dailey looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shelby County's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Pennington, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Pennington has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Byrne Nate, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Shelby County's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Elmore County, their record is now an identical 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Shelby County Wildcats duke it out with Baldwin County Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elmore County, they will host Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Elmore County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
