Baseball Game Preview: Natomas Nighthawks vs. Sutter Huskies

The Natomas Nighthawks will take on the Sutter Huskies at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Natomas has struggled recently with 30 defeats in a row, while Sutter will arrive with six straight wins.

Natomas played against Destiny Christian Academy last Friday and lost via forfeit.

Sutter's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Dixon hitters got past them. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 17-11 margin over the Rams on Friday. Considering the Huskies have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sutter got a massive performance out of Ezra Hilleary, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Hilleary has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonny Munger, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sutter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Sutter pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Natomas, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
