Baseball Recap: Umatilla Triumphs

It's playoff time, and Umatilla had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Nature Coast Tech Sharks 2-1.

Jace Carlson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Umatilla's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Ross, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another was Tate Bagwell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Umatilla's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Nature Coast Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-9.

Umatilla will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sharks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
