Baseball Game Preview: Hillcrest Hawks vs. Evergreen Park Mustangs

Hillcrest hasn't had much luck against Evergreen Park recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hawks will head out to take on the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Hillcrest has given up an average of 19.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hillcrest came up short against Thornton Fractional South on Tuesday, falling 25-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Evergreen Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Oak Lawn by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.

Noah Munoz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Munoz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Bishop, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Evergreen Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Lawn only managed six.

Evergreen Park's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-19.

Hillcrest might still be hurting after the 20-1 defeat they got from Evergreen Park in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
