Steilacoom hasn't had much luck against Orting recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sentinels will take on the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Steilacoom turned things around against Foss on Tuesday. They blew past the Falcons 18-8. The Sentinels not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 31-5).
Makayla Downey was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Orting made easy work of Clover Park on Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 victory.
Like Steilacoom, Orting also got a great game from a two-way player: Kathryn Prest. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Prest was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Steilacoom picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for Orting, their record is now 5-7.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Steilacoom has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Orting struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Steilacoom might still be hurting after the 29-17 defeat they got from Orting in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Sentinels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
