Volleyball Recap: Morley Stanwood Extends Winning Streak to Three

Morley Stanwood waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Newaygo Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Mohawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Morley Stanwood took both sets by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-15.

Madeline Kozuch paced Morley Stanwood's offense, picking up 13 kills. Kozuch got some help from Aivree Christensen and her 17 assists. Christensen also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Alexis Martin, racking up two apiece.

Morley Stanwood's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Newaygo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Morley Stanwood has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Muskegon Catholic Central on the 13th. As for Newaygo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Big Rapids on the 16th.
