Basketball Recap: Fort Morgan Comes Up Short

Fort Morgan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by The Academy Wildcats and fell 68-40. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-12.

Brodin Jess and Cooper Chisum certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Jess posted ten points, while Chisum earned five points. Jess continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

The Academy was led to victory by Dominik Konarski and CJ Hernandez. Konarski went 12 for 14 en route to 25 points and seven rebounds, while Hernandez went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points along with eight steals and six assists. Those 25 points gave Konarski a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydon Austin, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and seven assists.

Fort Morgan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for The Academy, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Fort Morgan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-40 loss against University on the 21st. As for The Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-50 defeat against Colorado Academy on the 22nd.
