Basketball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Bloomingdale

Bloomingdale hadn't done well against Cross Lanes Christian recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bloomingdale Blazers came out on top against the Cross Lanes Christian Warriors by a score of 65-56. The win was nothing new for the Blazers as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloomingdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton Schiedler, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 blocks. Those 11 blocks gave Schiedler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Schiedler, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Cross Lanes Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Ballard, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Cross Lanes Christian is 2-1 when Ballard posts ten or more rebounds, but 1-15 otherwise. Christian Shamblin was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 16 points and three blocks.

Bloomingdale's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points over those games. As for Cross Lanes Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Looking ahead, Bloomingdale won't have much time to rest: their next match is against West Logan Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomingdale is facing West Logan Christian Academy at the right time seeing as West Logan Christian Academy is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Cross Lanes Christian, they will challenge Ohio Valley Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
