Softball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Taft Raiders

The Warren Warriors will head out to take on the Taft Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Warren took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Stevens as Warren made off with a 16-6 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Warriors have posted since March 26, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Jenna Bonilla, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Aubrey Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Warren always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Taft waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Broncos 14-12. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Raiders, who until this contest were averaging 3.64 runs allowed.

Kaylee Sanchez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Hannah Flores was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Warren's record now sits at 2-6. As for Taft, their record is now 9-2.

Warren might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Taft in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Warren avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
