Basketball Recap: New Caney Takes a Loss

New Caney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Oak Ridge War Eagles 76-24. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1158th, while the War Eagles are ranked 564th).

Harley Washington was nothing short of spectacular for Oak Ridge: she went 8 of 12 en route to 22 points along with seven boards and four steals. Those 22 points gave Washington a new career-high. Synarea Reece was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

New Caney's defeat dropped their record down to 5-23. As for Oak Ridge, they now have a winning record of 16-15.

New Caney didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-19 loss against Grand Oaks on the 24th. Oak Ridge has also already played their next game, a 44-43 defeat against Conroe on the 24th.
