Game recap: Helix High School Football Team beats Steele Canyon

LA MESA, Calif. - A big 27-point third quarter helped carry the Highlanders to a 46-10 victory over Steele Canyon (Spring Valley, Calif.) on Saturday.

Helix scored on a touchdown pass by Josh Harris to Tyere Hunter, a touchdown run by Michael Adkins, a Harris touchdown pass to Jalen Davis and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Harris to Davis in the first quarter, HHS led 19-3 at the half.

The La Mesa school expanded its lead to 36 points entering the fourth quarter. The Highlanders scored four times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Harris to Hunter.



With the win Helix extended its winning streak to six games. HHS defeated the Foothillers 45-14 last week.

Zach Vance made a difference for the Cougars. He kicked one field goal.

Adkins stood out for the Highlanders in the win. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns.

Steele Canyon's lone touchdown came on a 7-yard run in the third quarter.

Helix went into the matchup giving up only 6.1 points per game.

A 49-7 Helix victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
