Basketball Game Preview: Spanish River Sharks vs. American Heritage Stallions

The Spanish River Sharks will take on the American Heritage Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Spanish River is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 68 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Pine Crest on Monday. They had to suffer through a 55-24 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Panthers are ranked 85th).

Spanish River's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Feinstein, who posted eight points, and Brooke Eriksson, who scored a point and five rebounds.

American Heritage hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. Everything went their way against Benjamin on Monday as American Heritage made off with a 49-27 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.

Spanish River better keep an eye on Jayden Presser. She was instrumental in American Heritage's win, putting up 19 points. Another player making a difference was Briyanna Doden, who had 12 points.

American Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Spanish River, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Spanish River was able to grind out a solid win over American Heritage in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 35-28. Does Spanish River have another victory up their sleeve, or will American Heritage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
