Basketball Game Preview: Campbell County Camels vs. Scottsbluff Bearcats

Campbell County and Scottsbluff are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Campbell County Camels will challenge the Scottsbluff Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Campbell County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.

Campbell County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Shawnee Mission South, who was ranked second in their home state at the time (Campbell County was ranked 23rd). Campbell County had to suffer through a 74-26 loss at the hands of Shawnee Mission South. Having soared to a lofty 70 points in the game before, the Camels couldn't push the score so high this time.

Coulter Lang put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted three points.

Meanwhile, Scottsbluff's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Saturday. They received a blow as they fell 72-58 to Skutt Catholic. The loss put an end to the Bearcats' undefeated start to the season.

Campbell County will need focus on slowing down Nate Kelley, one of several Scottsbluff players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 of 14 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Boswell, who had 13 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Scottsbluff fell to 8-1. As for Campbell County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Campbell County has made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 9.3 three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Scottsbluff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 threes. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything went Campbell County's way against Scottsbluff in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, as Campbell County made off with a 90-68 win. In that match, Campbell County amassed a halftime lead of 52-27, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
