Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Apache Junction). They walked away with a 38-31 victory over the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Prospectors as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Apache Junction can attribute much of their success to Isabella Winn, who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Jazleen Gonzales was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Despite the loss, Santa Cruz Valley still got an impressive performance from Joselin Valenzuela, who had 13 points.

Apache Junction's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Apache Junction wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 78-10 loss against Seton Catholic on the 14th. Santa Cruz Valley has also already played their next matchup, a 39-37 win against Heritage Academy on the 16th.
