Volleyball Recap: Iona Prep's Undefeated Season over After Eight Games

Iona Prep lost against Darien back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Gaels fell 3-1 to the Blue Wave. The match marked the Gaels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The 3-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by two points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23, 25-27, 27-25.

Brett Muscatella paced Iona Prep's offense, picking up 39 kills. Muscatella got some help from Alexander Longsworth and his 45 assists. Longsworth was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Iona Prep fell to 7-1. As for Darien, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Iona Prep will head out to take on Fordham Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Darien, they will venture away from home to face off against Harding at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
