Softball Game Preview: Silver Fighting Colts vs. Chaparral Lobos

For the second straight game, Silver will face off against Chaparral. The Fighting Colts will be playing at home against the Lobos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Silver has seven straight wins, Chaparral has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Silver is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Chaparral get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. The Fighting Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Ariel Alvarado made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Vanessa Lucero was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. That's the most triples she has posted since back in March of 2024. Brailyn Lopez was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Silver kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive contests.

Silver's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.
