Basketball Recap: Mason Bordean's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westfair Christian over Varsity Opponent

After flying high against Illinois School for the Deaf last Tuesday, Westfair Christian came back down to earth. Westfair Christian received a blow on Monday as they fell 68-53 to Varsity Opponent. Westfair Christian was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Varsity Opponent earlier this season, when they won 52-38.

Several Westfair Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Bordean, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. Greyson Prevett was another key player, going 10 of 16 en route to 22 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Westfair Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Westfair Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Westfair Christian will challenge First Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent has already played their next matchup (against IMG Academy Black), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
