Basketball Recap: Sterling Gets the Win

Sterling lost to University back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Sterling Tigers came out on top against the University Bulldogs by a score of 59-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Despite the loss, University still got an impressive performance from Coehn Nitzel, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Nitzel has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 19 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Marcus Prestwich, who posted seven points and three steals.

Sterling's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for University, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

Sterling and University should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Sterling will square off against Fort Morgan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 162 places (69 vs. 231). Meanwhile, University (ranked 88th) will meet Weld Central (ranked 295th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
