Platt had to settle for second on Monday, but Brandon Candelora sure wasn't going down easily. Candelora was dynamite, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
