Baseball Recap: Poplar Bluff Triumphs

Poplar Bluff never let their opponents score on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Dexter Bearcats. For the Mules, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 win the Bearcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The result came thanks to Noah Spain's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Poplar Bluff is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Clayton Schalk, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Myles Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Poplar Bluff now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Dexter, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Poplar Bluff will challenge Oran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dexter, they will face off against Doniphan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
