Flag Football Recap: Morgan Hetzel Key Part of Team Effort in Mustangs Win

South Effingham never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Glynn Academy Terrors as they made off with a 25-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

South Effingham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Morgan Hetzel led the charge by rushing for 49 yards and one TD, while also catching one score. Arden Thompson was another key signal caller, throwing for 38 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

South Effingham didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Hetzel.

South Effingham's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Glynn Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coincidentally, South Effingham and Glynn Academy will both be playing New Hampstead the next time they take the field. The Terrors will head out to face the Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
