Softball Game Preview: Knightstown Panthers vs. Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles

Knightstown hasn't had much luck against Cambridge City Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Knightstown will be strutting in after a win while Cambridge City Lincoln will be coming in after a defeat.

Knightstown took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Morristown. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Knightstown let Lyla Trigg and Lanee Swindell run wild. Trigg scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Swindell scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Swindell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan Fausnaugh, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Cambridge City Lincoln was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They lost 14-1 to Daleville.

Cambridge City Lincoln saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Pitcock, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Samantha Bell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cambridge City Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Knightstown, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
