Baseball Recap: Rancho Bernardo Gets the Win

Rancho Bernardo won the last time they faced Poway and things went their way on Monday too. The Broncos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Titans. That's two games straight that the Broncos have won by exactly two runs.

Rancho Bernardo got a great performance from Christopher Bayne as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Bayne is becoming a predictor of the Broncos' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on HUGO GONZALEZ, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Brady Strachan was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

The win got Rancho Bernardo back to even at 9-9. As for Poway, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rancho Bernardo beat Poway by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday.
