Santa Cruz Valley piles up the points against BASIS Phoenix

The Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils won the last time they faced the BASIS Phoenix Firebirds, and things went their way on Friday too. Santa Cruz Valley simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat BASIS Phoenix 59-13 at home. That looming 59-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Santa Cruz Valley yet this season.

Leading Santa Cruz Valley to victory were Ezekiel Perez and Nathan Harris. Perez scored 13 points along with nine steals and six rebounds, while Harris dropped a double-double on 16 points and 21 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Harris scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Estevan Guillen-Xavier, who scored ten points along with three steals.

The win makes it two in a row for Santa Cruz Valley and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for BASIS Phoenix, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Santa Cruz Valley and Cicero Prep Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cicero Prep Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. BASIS Phoenix will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Desert Heights Prep at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
