Volleyball Recap: Covington Falls to Anna in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Covington unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Anna Rockets on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Buccs in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost three in a row.

Covington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 27-25.

Covington's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ramse Vanderhorst, who had 17 digs and three assists. Vanderhorst has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Anna found their leader in sophomore Palynn Hoying, who had 42 assists and nine digs. Another player making a difference was Callie Gehret, who had 13 digs, two aces, and one block.

Coming up, Covington will welcome Brookville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anna, they will head out to face off against Versailles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
