Softball Game Preview: Lakewood Gators vs. Crestwood Knights

Lakewood is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Crestwood a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Lakewood Gators will look to defend their home field against the Crestwood Knights at 7:00 p.m. Lakewood will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

On Wednesday, Lakewood made easy work of Lower Richland and carried off a 19-2 victory. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 11 runs or more this season.

Lamar hit Crestwood with a seven-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights lost 14-5 to the Silver Foxes.

Zaire Ransom was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of My'Aniah Robinson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Crestwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Everything went Lakewood's way against Crestwood in their previous matchup back in March, as Lakewood made off with a 15-4 victory. Do the Gators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
