Football Recap: Emerson Wins Going Away Against Memorial

Emerson won the last time they faced Memorial and things went their way on Friday too. The Mavericks walked away with a 28-17 victory over the Warriors. That looming 28-17 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mavericks yet this season.

The critical scores for Emerson came from Brady Mensik, Presha Allen, Tj Smith, and Jason Wooden.

Emerson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Emerson's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Smith and Nick Dangerfield, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Coming up, Emerson will square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will be up against the Redhawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Memorial, they will take on Walnut Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
