Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Poly

Poly hadn't done well against Arlington recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 on Wednesday.

Poly got a great performance from Danny Bedford as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Bedford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Poly saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Malmberg, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

The victory (which was Poly's third in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Poly will be playing in front of their home fans against Moreno Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Arlington, they will square off against Millikan at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rams will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
