Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Latin Hawks vs. Providence Day Chargers

Charlotte Latin hasn't had much luck against Providence Day recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Charlotte Latin Hawks will host the Providence Day Chargers at 5:30 p.m.

Charlotte Latin came up into this matchup off a tough 33-point loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Charlotte Country Day School by a score of 49-46 on Friday. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Charlotte Latin got top-tier performance from Lanie Edwards, who went 5 of 9 en route to 23 points and three steals. Those 23 points gave Edwards a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Tune, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Providence Day). They blew past Darlington 78-37 on Saturday. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

Providence Day has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Charlotte Latin, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.

Charlotte Latin came up short against Providence Day in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 33-25. Can Charlotte Latin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
