Recap: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Dunbar Tigers

There's no place like home for the Fort Myers Green Wave, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They secured a 49-43 W over Dunbar on Thursday. Given Fort Myers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Dunbar is ranked 653rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Myers had a senior duo take command as Marquielle Tory scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals and Therry Theresias scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Tory has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Thelusma, who scored six points along with two steals.

Fort Myers pushed their record up to 12-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Dunbar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Fort Myers and Palmetto Ridge will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Palmetto Ridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Dunbar, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
