Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lauren Owens and Kearson Carter Lead Radford to Victory

Radford hadn't done well against Carroll County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Radford Bobcats blew past the Carroll County Cavaliers 52-31. The Bobcats pushed the score to 43-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cavaliers cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Radford to victory were Kearson Carter and Lauren Owens. Carter posted 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Owens had nine points and seven steals. Carter's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Ange Thompson was another key player, putting up ten points.

Radford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Carroll County had strong showings from Kenzey McMillian, who put up nine points and five steals, and Callie Harris, who scored seven points.

Radford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Carroll County, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Radford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-51 defeat against Galax on the 23rd. Carroll County has also already played their next game, a 54-45 loss against Alleghany on the 24th.
