Basketball Recap: Johnson Comes Up Short

Johnson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-38 to the Jenkins Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Atomsmashers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Warriors are ranked 155th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jenkins to victory, but perhaps none more so than Iycess Scott, who posted seven points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Scott is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Taylor Young was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Jenkins, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Johnson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-31 loss against Liberty County on the 11th. As for Jenkins, they will face off against Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkins has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
