The Putnam Valley Tigers will square off against the Valhalla Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Putnam Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

Putnam Valley fell victim to Briarcliff and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost seven in a row.

Dominic Benedetto was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Putnam Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Peterson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double. Sean Carroll also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Valhalla had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against Haldane last Friday as they made off with a 16-2 win.

Having lost for the first time this season, Putnam Valley fell to 4-1. As for Valhalla, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
